The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW

Sunnah (سنة, plural سنن sunan) literally means "trodden path", and therefore, the sunnah of Muhammad, prophet of Islam, means "the way and the manners of Muhammad".

How Did Prophet Muhammad Himself Respond to Insults?

The Sunnah of Muhammad refers to his traditions and actions, including specific words, actions, and practices. This is in contrast to the hadith, which contains just his words. However, the two doctrines were closely related in the beginnings of Islam. "O you who believe! If a Fasiq (liar - evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done". (Al-Hujraat:6)

"Wahai orang-orang yang beriman sekiranya datang kepada kamu orang fasik dengan berita-berita maka siasatlah (terlebih dahulu) kebenarannya (kerana bimbang) kalau-kalau kamu mengenai sesuatu kaum tanpa pengetahuan, lalu kamu menyesal atas perbuatanmu". (Al-Hujurat:6)
